Clubclass Teachers’ 15-day Strike Comes to a Fruitful Close.

The Union of Professional Educators – Voice of the Workers has just received an official communication from the DIER stating that the verification process has been completed. The verification has granted the UPE recognition with an 83% of teaching staff working at Clubclass being members of the union.

Since our legitimate request has been acted upon, all directives for Clubclass teachers, who are members of the UPE, are being lifted with immediate effect. All direct communication with the school will be repristinated, all regular administrative work previously handed in will be completed as usual, and the strike has been lifted. As from Monday the 27th of July, 2020, Clubclass teachers will be returning to work.

From now on, the Union of Professional Educators – Voice of the Workers will be working with Clubclass to determine the way forward for the coming months, with the aim of ensuring an improvement in  the teachers’ conditions of work and of safeguarding their livelihoods.

This was a victory not only for the UPE, but also for the teachers who stood strong, and united, throughout this period of time, and made sure that with the backing of the union, their voices were heard, listened to, acknowledged and respected.
