Clubclass Teachers Go On Strike

The Union of Professional Educators – Voice of the Workers and the teachers at Clubclass English Language School have officially had enough of waiting upon Clubclass owner Joe Aquilina’s leisure to sit at a table to discuss issues at his school. At the end of last week, he had finally got round to contacting the ELT Council saying he was willing to initiate talks so as not to escalate the issue further, but since then there has been total and utter silence from his end.

The union and the teachers had welcomed Mr. Aquilina ‘s apparent willingness to finally show some good will, and the teachers have been expectantly waiting for some form of communication from the union saying that he had agreed to set up some sort of reconciliatory meeting. Unfortunately, no such communication could be imparted, as Mr. Aquilina, yet again made himself very conspicuous by his absence.

Last week, an exceptional unanimous vote in favour of a strike was taken by the teachers at the UPE headquarters in Floriana. Until then, the finer details had not been determined, but following this last show of disrespect towards those who have been keeping his business going strong, it was decided that the ball would be set rolling.

On Monday, 6th of July 2020, the teachers at Clubclass English Language School will go on strike. All work activity will cease.

At 10:00 am on Monday the 6th of July 2020, Clubclass English Language School  teachers, with the backing of the UPE executive board, will turn up in front of the school, at 104, Chelsea Court, Triq is-Sidra, Swieqi,  SWQ, 3150, and will ensure that their voices are finally heard, and listened to.

Teachers in the EFL Sector are invited to join their colleagues as a sign of solidarity.
