Directive – Lack of Relievers and excessive work related to observations.

The Union of Professional Educators – Voice of the Workers, has been noticing that KGEs members of the UPE are facing two major issues.

The number of relievers in kindergarten has been reduced drastically following the February intake. This is resulting in an additional workload as well as no or limited CT (Curriculum Time).  This issue had been pointed out in December 2019, with the issuing of directives for our members.

We would also like to point out that KGEs members of the UPE have also complained about the excessive workload they have been made to manage with the introduction of student observations. We believe that it is imperative that a balance it to be found.

For these reasons the Union is issuing the following directive;

KGEs who are members of the UPE in State schools are to refrain from carrying out any observations or inputting data on the online system.
