The Union of Professional Educators – Voice of the Workers, has been informed by its members at St. Sebastian Primary School Hal Qormi, that a number of mouse traps had been placed within various classrooms. This was also confirmed by the Director General herself, after the UPE raised its concerns.
This issue has caused grave concern amongst staff members who, during these difficult times, are already feeling overwhelmed by the situation at hand and are now being further tormented by the idea of a possible rat infestation within their place of work.
The Union had forwarded these serious concerns to the Ministry and asked for tangible evidence on their part to resolve the situation without delay.
In the meantime, the Union had also taken the initiative to communicate with the competent health authorities to ensure that the problem is followed up.
It is to be pointed out that, following the prompt action taken by the UPE, these mouse traps have been removed.
