The Union of Professional Educators – Voice of the Workers has reviewed the circular issued today, Friday the 15th of January 2021, with reference number DES 03/2021. In this circular, it is being made very clear that even though the services of peripatetic teachers is being restored, these will still only be considered as being of secondary importance to replacements.
These teachers are thus being asked to prepare lessons which may not necessarily be delivered, they are being given a time table which may, or may not, change that same morning, and the subjects they are specialised in, and which they so strongly believe in the benefit of, are being, yet again, undermined.
The UPE would like to take this opportunity to remind these educators of the directive the UPE issued on the 9th of December 2020, which states as follows:
- Peripatetic Teachers, Nurture Group Teachers, Nurture Group LSEs, Complementary Teachers, and Literacy Support Teachers, who are members of the UPE, are to adhere to their scheduled time table and not accept to take on any replacements.
Should any of our members have any further queries, or would like to contact us for further advice or information on this issue, they are not to hesitate to contact the union at email@example.com or by calling our offices on 2590 5400.
