The UPE – a driving force behind the prevention of the spread of Covid-19

The Union of Professional Educators – Voice of the Workers is proud to have been a driving force in the decision to have schools closed, as it was the first to pre-emptively voice its concerns in a meeting with the Ministry of Education yesterday, the 11th of March, in the afternoon.

The promises made to the union were adhered to and, earlier this afternoon, school closure was announced with effect from tomorrow, the 13th of March. All educational institutions will remain closed, and educators will not be expected to be at their place of work as a measure intended to contain the presence of a threat to the health of many.
The time invested on our most pressing concerns yesterday, were taken seriously and our recommendations helped to take a step in the right direction.
